Polar exploration ain't all glamour.
The team are currently working hard in Punta Arenas (Chile) sorting out their supplies for the coming weeks on expedition. As anyone who's been on expedition will know, food can make or break it for you so whilst it may not be the most rock-and-roll of duties, it's an important part of preparation.
Still, I doubt many of us can claim restaurant recommendations from a president.
Here are entries from Kylie and Kim:
This morning... we are busy beavers starting to portion our food bags. Reena (India), Felicity (UK) and I are measuring out 240gms of Power Porridge with 80gms of milk powder and 80gms of sugar for our breakfasts. Mmmm!
Kim and Steph (Cyprus) are sorting "the pills". They are glad wrapping (cling filming) Zinc, Magnesium, Vitamin B, Omega 3, Glucosamine and Antioxidant tablets together. These will keep our bodies strong, healthy and sustained for the duration of our ski to the Pole.
After lunch... we´ll be starting lunch bags and snacks. It is going to be a long day inside measuring, counting and packing.
Some of us are shaking off the final traces of the wretched Cold. Better to have had it all before we get to the íce.
Tonight... we will head out to a restaurant run by a Singaporean lady following a recommendation to Sophia from none other than the President of Singapore!
Better get back to it.
Kylie

We literally took over the hostel.
- Reena (India) was on popcorn
- Kylie (New Zealand) was on peanuts
- Kim (Jamaica) was on chocolate
- Era (Brunei) was on Sesame Snaps
- Stephanie (Cyprus) was on sweets
- Felicity and Helen (UK) were on banana chips
At least a ton of banana chips, another ton of toffee popcorn, numerous bottles of vitamins and boxes upon boxes of chocolate... the preparation of "Day Bags" is underway.
Looking at the 176 Day Bags we've made (only half of what is needed) the challenge ahead is becoming more real by the bag. We now have to believe it: next week, this team is flying into Antarctica. Another 176 day bag to go and we are off!
More on the communications preparation – in which we know you all are interested in - tomorrow.
Kim.
