Mrs Lim Hwee Hua announced as Singapore team Patron
Singapore team member, Sophia Pang, is delighted to announce that Mrs Lim Hwee Hua has agreed to be her Patron for the expedition. Mrs Lim Hwee Hua is the Second Minister for Finance and Transport in Singapore and is the first woman in Singapore to be appointed as a full minister.
In accepting the invitation to become a Patron of the expedition Mrs Lim Hwee Hua says, ' The Kaspersky Commonwealth Antarctic Expedition is the result of the passion and desire of a few courageous women who share a dream of skiing to the South Pole, a task that will take them through one of the most difficult terrains in the world. For many of these women, it is a personal goal and a great opportunity to develop qualities that define leadership - a willingness to take risks and venture out into the unknown, and most importantly the ability to inspire others to complete their own 'Antarctic Expeditions'.
Sophia Pang's spirit, grit and determination to succeed in this quest serves as a beacon of inspiration to all of us and we are proud that she will be the first Singaporean woman to ski to the South Pole. I am confident that Sophia will do Singapore proud and I have great faith that the entire team will reach their destination victoriously.'
