Lemon Noodles

Lemon Noodles

Desperate times call for desperate measures. They've seemed totally unfazed throughout this journey so far - consistently putting in the hours and churning out the miles - and, frankly, have been making it look easy. So, it is in many ways refreshing to be reminded that the team is in fact comprised of humans. I think they've had a tough one today and Steph (Cyprus) has been dealing with it by mixing noodles, with soup, with a citrus energy drink. Strange.

Stephanie's PodCast in writing:

"HI everyone it's Steph here. We have had an early one here today - YAY! - which is good but mostly because we have climbed up about 800 feet and we getting closer to the Antarctic Plateau.

The weather has changed quite dramatically. I mean not that it was ever amazingly easy to see through but now we're really getting icy cold winds and things are getting much tougher. We have gone through sastrugis, really big sastrugis. Everyone is starting to feel a little bit more tired. I've had 4 new blisters. Things are getting harder and we are lucky in our unluckiness. We stopped quite early today, after the fourth leg and we are all really going to have a good night's sleep tonight and head on tomorrow for the next session.

We almost 2 degrees away from the pole and its a pity. One of the main reasons why we stopped was because none of us wants to get injured. It would be a pity for any of us to bow out now. I know personally I would be devastated.

My mantra everyday is we need to make it to the South Pole without injury.

You can't imagine just how hard it is to just stay out of trouble or at least I am finding it really hard. It's all fingers and toes and mittens and gloves and liners. I'm telling you this is not easy. We all sound jovial and happy and enthusiastic on the voice mails and you can probably hear us smiling but it is actually really hard and it's getting harder as we get closer to the pole. Especially now that tiredness is starting to kick in.

Apart from that everyone is really looking forward to reaching the pole (fingers crossed). We're also looking forward to Christmas where we all will be speaking to our families and catching up on all the gossip at home. But apart from that I am going on my 4th day without music and needless to say i am faring - how am i going to put this - I am alright. I can get through this. I hope everyone is alright at home. Enjoy Christmas. At least I am getting a white one. Ha ha! Enjoy take care."
