Ice Goatee

Ice Goatee

As the subtle bite of winter sinks its icy teeth into the UK's transport network, the girls down south continue their journey towards the Pole in conditions that would make for quite the Traffic News Bulletin back here. Kylie (New Zealand) tells us today how the weather affects her facial hair...

Kylie's PodCast in writing:

"Hello everybody, it's Kylie from New Zealand calling on day 32 from Camp 31. We are up on the Antarctic Polar Plateau as you probably know by now. Trucking towards our last degree which will be cool.

Still climbing a little bit. We're at 9,006 feet today so even though we've been climbing really slowly, that little bit of altitude has been effecting some people and even though I've been feeling quite strong I can see that I've been breathing harder because my icicles are getting longer on my face mask. A big long ice goatee like my builder Colin MacArthur in Twize; except for mine's a little more spectacular, pointy and long.

We're all good. The girls are just amazing. Everyone is just putting the heads down and getting on with it. A pretty cool bunch of people just to be cruising along with. We don't get too much time on the road to chat during the day. We're in single file so a little bit of the catch up in the tent in the evening.

Just wanted to say Merry Christmas to everybody because it's coming up in a few days. We'll be walking. We'll be on the go, on the move now so thinking of you all and especially friends and family at home. You all know I'm thinking of you but also Scottish cousins: Helsa, ... Alan, Ferg and Anita, Pucking, Frank, Hilda and Familia, and also to the Danes, Selina, Martin and Michel and Mia, and Michel and Pora. Everyone have a great Christmas and New year.

Think of us girls here. We'll be on the dehydrated food and porridge I think just for a change. And also to the Aussies: Pete, Megs, Jeanie and Mick and Joe etc. G'day, g'day. I hope everyone's good. We'll see you all on the New Year, for the big party, alright.

Over and out."
