The heady luxuriance of rest has passed. The team have fresh socks for their feet and new meals for their bellies but now it is time to get back in the game. Sophia kicks us off with PodCasts in English, Cantonese and Mandarin...

Sophia's PodCast in writing:
"Hi everyone, this is Sophia from the expedition on day 17. We just past on the 2nd half of our expedition to the South Pole.
It shows that we are pretty happy today about what we have done. Although it is overcast, not really direct sunlight today and it's not very clear on the horizon, but we had a pretty good day traveling quite a good distance in a shorter time than expected. Well, being the first day of the 2nd half, we are carrying actually a little bit more weight than the last few days but I think the majority of us didn't really feel it. Whatever it is I think probably most of us are trained.
For me personally it's really more focusing on my feet than on the pulk (sled) because I have a set of new wool tankers. When we have on our skis with our boots, what we wear is that we actually have a pair of socks on and then we have a pair of wool tankers* with the polar socks. Well I have a new pair for the second half but it's kind of huge for my left leg so its slipping left and right. So I'm trying to control quite a lot on it on the first half of today, but in a way it's a blessing because with all the focus on my leg, I forgot about the weight at the back, so it kind of lessens that one more in that sense. Obviously it's still a good day.
So that's about it for us on the first day on the 2nd half to talk to you again. Bye."
